Free time in Littleton

One thing I really like about my parents neighborhood is that it's driving distance to one of the greatest parks ever! The kids love to play there! There is a lake with a walking path all the way around, and plenty of ducks to feed. Sienna and Meadow loved doing that! Aria was indifferent.

The other thing Clement park has is an abundance of playgrounds! And there is never a shortage of little friends to play with, either! The girls had so much fun - and we weren't dripping from humidity like we do at home.

Race to Colorado and back!

On August 8th we all piled in the car (mom hired a babysitter, Kirsten, from church to help) and drove out to Colorado just for Great Grandma. We spent part of Thursday with her at her home. Meadow read her a story and Sienna showed her all the bug bites she got at one of the rest stops on the way out! Great Grandma got to hold and squeeze her newest great-grandchild and was so happy to show them all off to the other residents in her building! We love our Great Grandma!

Pictures with the Cousins!

Kids are SO HARD to capture at just the right moment. So, Cousin Cindy and I sat in front of our brood and made lots of noises and goofy sounds and "say cheese"s and "look this way!"s and just clicked away. I think I took about 20 pictures. One kid was always doing something other than looking at the camera!

Sienna! Look this way!! Zach! What's in your hand?!

Mikayla? Your eyes?? Meadow! Really now!

Near success! I guess this is as good as it gets.

Discoveries

We all know how fast babies learn and discover new things every day. This is Aria on June 24th. She is just about 3 months old in these pictures but she sure has a lot of expression in that little face of hers. Scroll with her while she discovers her toys . . .
"Hmmmm, I see that."

"It's still there."
"Still there, and kinda neat."
"Ok, now that's funny!!"

Wow, it's been two months?! Sorry folks! I've been taking some video of the girls, but hardly any pictures. I have to go back a month and a half to share Meadow's swimming lessons with you. Meadow loves swimming. The only problem is, she has no fear of it. You all know Meadow! She actually did great and learned quite a bit. She can pretty much swim on her own - it just isn't pretty! Mom signed Meadow up for lessons and quickly realized that Sienna was NOT going to stand by and just watch. I gave another teacher some side money (Sienna isn't old enough to sign up for actual lessons) and the girls got to have lessons together. They had a BLAST!
The only thing that stunk was that the extra teacher had another lesson that came in before Meadow's was over. This meant that Sienna had to get out of the pool. I was taking pictures of her and it reminded me of some of the shots the paparazzi get!
"NO! Don't take my picture!!"
"You're still taking my picture?!"
"Well I guess I may as well look good in these pictures!"

Aria always looks like she's got something to say!! We decided she was telling the camera to get it's big lens "outta my face!" These pics were taken on June 15th.

The girls are always wanting snacks at our house, even if they've just had a plate full of spaghetti, green beans (the only vegetable they'll eat), garlic bread and grapes! In an effort to give them only healthy snacks mom has pulled out the chips and salsa. We get baked tortilla chips and a small ramekin of salsa to share between the two of them. Sienna usually eats one or two chips - the same two chips that she dips in the salsa and licks off until she's eaten about half the ramekin or the chip is too soggy to dip anymore!! Meadow just chows down, and it isn't a good chip unless it's got a spoonful of salsa on it!!
(By the way, Meadow was "posing" for all these pictures!)

Again with the something to say face! Meadow was entertaining Aria when these pictures were taken on June 16th (the same day as the salsa and swimming pictures). She seems to think that Aria was telling her about a dream she had about filling her diaper! Leave it to a five year old to come up with something like that!!

With all the sunny weather, most of our days have been spent outside in our little wading pool. The girls don't seem to mind that it's only 5' in diameter. They play monster and storm and firefighter and all kinds of made-up games when they are in the backyard. It gives them something to do while mommy is trying to tackle the patio project she undertook!

And here is little Miss "Thang" with her new, automatic Diego and Dora toothbrush. I don't think a 2 year old has ever brushed their teeth as well as Sienna does now. Mommy used to be under the impression that automatic toothbrushes were a waste of money, but she has been shown the evidence that says otherwise. Even Meadow does a better job brushing now.
